PROUDLY PUNGENT

Reimagning a conventionally ugly object as a product, I work with Bombay Duck, a fish known for its dreadful looks and pungent smell. I had shortlisted a few food items that we traditionally eat at home- chilli, bamboo shoot, shutki(dried fish), fish in general.
I was interested in the ways in which nouns can become adjectives and what it can do to how we relate to things we haven’t experienced ourselves.
I have always been fascinated by this fish and how it has a strong pungent flavour i love. Its not a particularly liked smell with neighbours either. Purity of space then is not limited to physical attributes but also air we cannot see. Smells are a big part of how we engage with spaces. Thinking of those things i started this project.
